The highly anticipated AP Agent is nearly here! This Copilot Agent specifically conceived for Business Central will help vendor invoice processing by leveraging generative AI to read, interpret, and create vendor invoices.

AP Automation used to rely primarily on OCR capabilities. Not anymore. Copilot will be able to identify various data elements, such as vendor name, invoice number and invoice date, of an invoice sent via email as a PDF or image file.

If an explicit vendor is not specified on the invoice, additional information on the document can be analyzed, allowing the agent to recommend a vendor from your Business Central list.

Once the purchase invoice is created, you can accept, edit or simply delete it. If you make corrections, you help the agent improve its interpretation of recurring invoices over time.

Users remain responsible for approval, three-way matching, tax compliance and posting. This may change as Microsoft continues development of this agent.

The AP Agent is included in the Microsoft Copilot for Business Central add‑on, which requires a per‑user license, and is available in preview mode in Canada.
