Change Management
I wrote a short blog about Change Management back in April 2023. It was the fourth article of a series about managing risks in ERP implementations, and I tried to highlight the importance of managing change from a people’s perspective. Your employees are significant contributors to successful implementation and, critically so, to its operational success.
This time around, I would like to emphasize the importance of leveraging the knowledge and expertise of Change Management specialists. Some people do this every day. Crazy, I know; but valuable.
Change Management should begin when the decision is made to shop for an ERP system. Quite often, this does not happen. When considered, Change Management tends to be discussed when the project is about to start. Late is better than never, might you say.
The other problem we face is that Change Management tends to be underestimated, both in terms of importance and complexity. It therefore requires much effort.
For these reasons, we recommend imbedding a Change Management expert in your project charter as soon as possible.
