Dynamics 365 Business Central 26 Wave 2 is available
Microsoft’s latest update to Business Central (version 26 – 2026 Release Wave 2) continues to evolve the ERP into a smarter, more connected, and more intuitive platform. This release provides improvements for Copilot Agentic AI, development, ecommerce, expense management, finance, reporting, supply chain, and more.
Here are some of my highlights.
Copilot
The Microsoft Copilot chat experience in Business Central is being revamped to look like the Copilot chat experience available on the web or on the mobile app.
Purchase Order matching has been improved in the Payables Agent. Other improvements are being introduced in Agentic AI to enhance user experience.
Development
A ton of minor improvements are being leveraged to make programmers’ lives easier. Some of these improvements introduce new AI tools. One of the most significant improvements in my opinion is Page Scripting. Page Scripting enters general availability and allows users to record navigation and data inputs in Business Central, creating scripts that can later be rerun for testing purposes. This will prove to be an excellent toll for unit and regression testing.
eCommerce
Microsoft continues to improve the Shopify connector.
EDI also becomes part of the standard electronic document infrastructure in Business Central as it is built on the current E-Documents framework. This feature is in preview made, scheduled for general availability in the next release April 2027.
Reporting
Among the numerous reporting improvements, some key features are added to the Word Layout add-in. Designing report layouts in Word is now easier and faster due to the addition of prebuilt design controls, new document themes, sample layout, and header and footer templates.
This will optimize layout formatting while making users less dependent on programmers.
Supply Chain
Let’s wrap up this summary with some interesting new features in Supply Chain.
Released production orders can be created from the planning worksheet, eliminating a tedious step that may not always be required for some users.
You can now use inventory put aways and picks for subcontracting, carry subcontracting instructions into purchase orders
Last but not least, a tighter integration between capacity information (calendars) and planning tools, it becomes easier for planner to schedule around holidays, manage overtime periods, account for maintenance shutdowns and reflect actual machine availability.
